The Free School of Architecture was a global cross-section of architectural education. I was reminded that the development of an architect or designer happens as much outside practice as within it. The FSA was a participant-led slow space where doing nothing could mean everything. Students became teachers, and we explored what architecture was to each of us. We took the FSA beyond its intentions, and it has outgrown its founding vision. I am forever grateful to have learned from brilliant students who shaped my life and my own definition of architecture.
